Some of us were never taught the words — only the longing for them.
I'm a communications coach — most people say what I do feels a lot like therapy. I help people find the words for what lives inside them. For so many of us of Mexican descent, those words were Spanish, and somewhere along the way the language slipped a generation.
Maybe your parents didn't speak it at home. Maybe you understand far more than you can say. Maybe you've felt like a stranger at your own family table. It's hard to become fluent when the people around you aren't fluent either — so we stay quiet, and the distance grows.
Sacred Roots is the circle I wished I'd had — a judgment-free place where women and children come home to the language and heritage that were always ours, practicing together, out loud, and without shame.
